Our client, a Canadian leader in food manufacturing is looking for a Production Manager to join their operations in Richmond, BC

The successful applicant for this opportunity is a highly motivated and results-oriented individual who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the production area ensuring that health and safety, quality, cost, and volume targets are at maintained while focusing on short- and medium-term goals and objectives for the manufacturing operations.

This role is accountable for the management and supervision of Production Supervisors including
delegation, training, coaching and mentoring and performance management.

This person will work closely with the team on continual review and execution of Continuous Improvement projects/initiatives, labour planning; with the aim of capitalizing on opportunities for business and process improvements.

A highly organized and self-motivated individual, the Production Manager will effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a high paced manufacturing environment. As a forward thinker and able to see the big picture the Production Manager will be able to anticipate future risk the operations and provide actionable plans to mitigate or eliminate the impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment for the entire manufacturing facility.
  • Provide direct leadership to the Production Supervisors, empowering them and creating accountability and also monitoring and compliance auditing.
  • Deliver performance improvement through change initiatives and commitment to ongoing continuous improvement.
  • Work proactively with various plant departments including Quality, Supply Chain, Human Resources and Schedulers/Planners to meet performance goals/targets and to recommend/execute actionable solutions to keep targets on track.
  • Will be a certified member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee responsible for organizing monthly meetings and all other JHSC initiatives.
  • Will ensure compliance with all quality, food safety and regulatory requirements as well as the future internal BRC, HACCP and GMP standards.
  • Will perform investigations and root cause analysis into health and safety, quality, maintenance and manufacturing incidents.
  • Will sit with various corporate cross-functional teams and will effectively communicate and represent the manufacturing facility to Sales and Marketing, R&D, and Corporate Health and Safety.
  • Conduct performance appraisals for all direct reports to ensure alignment to goals and to foster growth opportunities for all team members
  • Will manage spend and ensure budget requirements are maintained or improved.

Qualifications include:

  • A post secondary degree or diploma is preferred with a focus on Engineering/Supply Chain Business
    Management or Food Science
  • 5+ years’ experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment (CPG/Food experience preferred)
  • 3+ years demonstrated people management
  • Lean Manufacturing/Six-Sigma training and/or experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Work Safe Health and Safety Regulations
  • Experience participating, preferably leading a JHSC
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and coach and success in driving a culture of safety and quality
  • Excellent technical skills to analyse, define options and lead implementation of solution
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, planning and analytical skills
  • Proven results in cost savings and continuous improvement
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to build
    strong relationships with key stakeholders and influence at all levels
