Our client, a leader in the food manufacturing industry is looking for a night shift Sanitation Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sanitation Supervisor will lead the night shift Sanitation employees in completion of cleaning/sanitizing procedures of plant equipment and the facility.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ownership of the sanitation process as pertains to budgeting, scheduling, inventory, and execution.
  • To maintain the company and government standards for food safety.
  • Responsible for scheduling, directing overall work flow to ensure proper sanitation/cleaning requirements.
  • Develop, lead and coach internal & external employees through effective training and communication.
  • Ensure adherence to all Food Safety protocols.
  • Document and maintain records in areas of standard sanitation operating procedures, employee performance, sanitation performance, and HACCP compliance.
  • Actively participate in Seek and Destroy situations when required.
  • Completion of pre-operational inspection prior to operations start-up with immediate corrective actions where necessary.
  • Maintain open communication and collaborations with operations personnel to ensure the equipment is food safe, and ready to start up production on time as per production schedule.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure that company Health and Safety policies are being observed.
  • Utilize equipment, supplies and personnel to maximize sanitation effectiveness.
  • Motivate employees to high performance through reinforcement and recognition.
  • Limit water damage to equipment through use of Lean Methodology and effective sanitation processes.
  • Monitor, inspect, and source, vendor support where applicable.
  • Work with QA dept. & CFIA governing body to meet standard requirements.
  • Construction of sanitation department budget which includes but is not limited to: chemical consummation, tool usage, vendor contractor management.
  • Meeting the requirements of the sanitation budget.
  • Complete ownership of the sanitation vendor management program.
  • Required to work flexible hours as needed to achieve plant requirements.
  • Required to cross train in the role of Production Supervisor to provide support in the event of absenteeism or vacation time.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Strong people management skills and positive job relations required.
  • Written and oral communication skills required for inter-departmental interaction, procedure development and training/leading sanitation operators.
  • Strongly knowledge of dry/wet cleaning process and chemical functionality.
  • Relevant post-secondary education of a degree/diploma in Food Science or related discipline an asset.
  • Strong working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and sanitation requirements
  • A minimum of 5+ years’ progressive experience in the food industry at a supervisory level.
  • Familiarity with Health & Safety legislation, WHMIS, Food Safety, GMPs, HACCP Principles required
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Valid tow motor license an asset
  • Written and oral communication skills required for inter-departmental interaction, procedure development and training/leading sanitation operators.
