Our client, a manufacturing leader in spring making is looking for a talented Special Order Set-Up Operator Class A to join their team.

Job Summary:

The Special Order Set-Up Operator Class A manufactures a full range of springs, wire forms, and assemblies according to customer samples, drawings or specifications for small orders, one-offs or prototypes. The Special Order Set-Up Operator often constructs or adapts tools, gauges, fixtures, jigs and dies where design is available or not; performs developmental or prototype work. The Special Order Set-Up Operator is capable of setting up and running (or by hand) a wide variety of spring making and machine shop machines.

• designs and constructs any tools, dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures necessary to produce a wide variety of springs (compression, extension, and torsion), wire forms and assemblies according to customer sample, drawing or specifications.
• plans and performs all bench and required machine operations to produce parts to customer specification developing or adapting tools and dies where required.
• records all data necessary for future reference in setting-up tooling and producing parts according to customer specifications.
• sets and runs machines in the Special Order Department remaining with machine until dimensions are holding and parts are produced consistently to specifications; or monitors machine operator ensuring standards are met and checking quality of parts as well as ensuring safety precautions are adhered to.
• performs hand operations as required using variety of spring machinery and devices.
• completes all documentation required to meet quality system standards signing off where applicable.

• minimum secondary schooling to grade 12 level
• machine shop courses
• tool and die courses
• spring design courses
• blue print reading courses
• IATF 16949:2016 & ISO 9001:2015 (Quality) training

• 3-5 years general spring making experience
• Minimum secondary schooling to grade 12 level
• Tool and die experience
• Ability to read blueprints
• Machine shop experience required
• Basic literacy (reading and writing)
• Well developed mathematical skills and able to use decimals, algebra, geometry and solve angle problems
• Ability to use testing, measuring and gauging equipment
• High level of mechanical ability to use necessary tools and equipment in the manufacturing of product
• Good problem-solving, analytical skills
• Capable of working independently with minimal supervision
• Comfortable with constant standing and walking while working on machines and designing and constructing tools and dies

Salary – $20.00-$25.00/hour (negotiable depending on experience)

Schedule – Monday-Friday Day Shift 7:30AM-3:30PM
