Can Liner Lead Hand

Our client, a leader in the production of packaging equipment is looking for a talented lead hand to join their operations in Etobicoke.

Basic Function

Train and supervise operators, while setting up, trouble shooting and adjusting roll and flat can liner machines to
meet requirements. Ensure schedules are followed and production goals are met. Resolve emergencies, complex problems and work flow stoppages.

Tasks

· Follows safety procedures in the workplace; must attend and participate in all department and appropriate plant safety meetings and training sessions.

· Trains and mentors the Can liner workers and ensures continuous improvement.

· Sets up machines for production.

· Makes adjustments to equipment as required to operate efficiently and produce quality product.

· Coordinates shift crew, monitoring safety, quality, production, housekeeping, training, and assigning of work.

· Communicates with the in-coming Operators at shift change to communicate information to them ensuring smooth
transition to oncoming shift.

· Signs off on the Quality Control Set up Sheets after a changeover – approving bag dimensions, and other pertinent details.

· Attend training for certification to operate power pallet mover (Willkie)

· Works in partnership with Supervisors to support and maintain an environment that fosters good communication and teamwork. Models Hymopack Values.

· Directs the workflow in the department and allocates personnel as required to meet Hymopacks expectations

· Directs the workforce and maintains a clean and safe work area around the machines

· Ensures that daily safety checks of equipment are performed to make sure all safety devices are in place to
operating properly.

Principal Responsibilities

· Conduct daily safety checks of area and equipment.

· Operation, set up and troubleshooting equipment

· Monitor process and equipment operation to product quality and reduction og waste

· Duties as requested by management and operators.

· Communication with oncoming shift at shift change

Education Requirements

☑High School Diploma

Working Conditions

· 12 hour rotating shifts

· Expected to work overtime when required

· PPE required steel toe safety shoes, hearing protection, rubber gloves when working with inks and solvents, protective gloves when cutting material.

· Summer month’s plant can become very warm.

· Material handling equipment lift trucks, hand trucks moving around in isles.

· Rotating equipment machines have pinch points, hot areas for burns.

Physical Effort

· Moderate lifting of full cartons, any heavy lifting assistance is provided with hoists or added personnel in the area

7am to 7pm – 12 hours shift rotating every
2 weeks – (48 hours week1, 36 hours week2)

$1 premium on nights – no premium for weekend.
