Our client, a food manufacturing leader in Hamilton is looking for a production supervisor to join their team.

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • The Production Supervisor coordinates the production of finished goods for ourcustomer orders.
  • Production supervisor reports to the production manager

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Production supervisor is responsible for a team of production employees of approx.. 35-40 employees on different lines.
  • Actively part of the Plant Leadership Team
  • Is committed to maintain and sustain the Company’s Food Safety Culture and overall Food Safety ystems including compliance to applicable laws & regulations as it pertains to Canadian Food
    Inspection Agency (CFIA), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI)
  • The main responsibility of the Production Supervisor is to manage a team to make sure the company meets required standards of food safety, legality, regulatory compliance, efficiency, quality and our customer needs within a safe environment.
  • The Production Supervisor is responsible for managing the labor force under his direct report according to the best interests of the company and with respect to the collective agreement. The supervisor needs to think of continuous improvement, training and disciplinary management
  • The Production supervisor will develop plans in team with the PLT to promote safety activities that will see a noticeable reduction in the number of recordable injuries in his department.
  • The Production supervisor will work well with the functional departments, i.e QA, maintenance, sanitation, payroll, inventory control & procurement, finance and product innovation and work proactive solutions to promote our best practices and improve our cost structure.
  • The production supervisor will be a good team player with his team, other supervisors and the production manager

PREFERRED HIRING CRITERIA:

  • 2-4 years in a supervisor position with a significant level of complexity
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills; ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment and flexibility to occasionally adapt the work schedule to suit the business needs.
  • Individual well versed in the fields in managing employees, scheduling, Inventory systems, labor relations and safety.
  • Strong skills in production scheduling and forecasting.
  • Significant experience with food processing, CFIA, HACCP.
  • Effective in the use of Office software.
