Our client, a leading company in the weatherstripping and lite framing industry, is seeking a maintenance technician to join their team in Mississauga. This position involves working on day shifts and is essential for ensuring the maintenance and operation of injection molding machines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plastic extrusion and injection molding machines to ensure they operate efficiently and meet production requirements.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on extrusion and molding equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts as necessary.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints to understand machine systems and repair procedures.
- Collaborate with production staff to identify and address equipment issues that impact production schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist with machine installations, modifications, and upgrades as needed.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and reliability.
- Respond to emergency repair requests promptly to minimize production downtime.
- Proven experience as a maintenance technician with a focus on plastic extrusion and injection molding equipment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with plastic extrusion and injection molding processes, equipment, and components.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and blueprints.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment and parts as required.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices in equipment maintenance.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintaining plastic extrusion and injection molding equipment.
