Maintenance Technician

Our client, a leading company in the weatherstripping and lite framing industry, is seeking a maintenance technician to join their team in Mississauga. This position involves working on day shifts and is essential for ensuring the maintenance and operation of injection molding machines.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plastic extrusion and injection molding machines to ensure they operate efficiently and meet production requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on extrusion and molding equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts as necessary.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints to understand machine systems and repair procedures.
  • Collaborate with production staff to identify and address equipment issues that impact production schedules.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Assist with machine installations, modifications, and upgrades as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and reliability.
  • Respond to emergency repair requests promptly to minimize production downtime.
Qualifications and Skills:
  •  Proven experience as a maintenance technician with a focus on plastic extrusion and injection molding equipment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with plastic extrusion and injection molding processes, equipment, and components.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment and parts as required.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices in equipment maintenance.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintaining plastic extrusion and injection molding equipment.
