Frequently Asked Questions
Most frequently asked questions from employers:
What is your fee percentage, and is it based on base salary or total compensation?
Hiring through a headhunting firm is a major strategic investment for a company. It relieves the human resources team of recruitment processes that are often lengthy and complex, depending on the nature of the role, and also saves time by providing profiles of candidates who have already been interviewed and evaluated against the requirements.
The standard business model for a headhunting firm is based on a percentage of the hired candidate’s total gross annual compensation. The fees can be discussed with an account manager.

Are headhunters regulated in Ontario?
Yes, strictly. Under Ontario’s Employment Standards Act (ESA), anyone operating as a recruiter or temporary help agency in the province must hold a mandatory provincial license.
How can I verify if an Ontario headhunter is legal?
You can quickly verify an agency’s legal standing using the Ontario Ministry of Labour’s public directory (via the Licensing of Temporary Help Agencies and Recruiters portal).
How do you find "passive" candidates who are not actively looking on job boards?
Many online platforms allow recruiters to find your profile online; LinkedIn and various job search sites such as Indeed are very popular. Those platforms allow the teams to reach out directly to candidate and present them opportunities within their industry.
Recruiters also rely on their networks to connect with candidates.

What happens if a placed candidate quits?
The post-placement guarantee allows the company to have the hired candidate replaced in the event that the candidate resigns or is terminated for cause during the guarantee period. The team will start the process again to find a replacement.
Most frequently asked questions from jobseekers:
Do job seekers have to pay headhunters?
Our services are completely free for job seekers, and we will never ask you to pay for anything.
Do headhunters find jobs for people?
Technically, no. Headhunters find people for jobs. They are hired and paid by companies to fill specific, vacant positions. In this context, their primary role is to proactively scout the market to find the best talent for their clients.
Will my current employer find out I am talking to you?
No. The recruitment process with a headhunter is strictly confidential. Your resume will never be shared with a client without your explicit consent. The same principle applies to employment references during the final phases of the hiring process; your current employer will never be contacted unless you give us the green light.
Are you using AI to screen my application?
While some automated Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) use algorithms to screen for keywords, we prioritize a human-centric approach. Your application is reviewed by real people, and all our screenings and communications are handled by our team, not by AI.
Do I have to pay a headhunter to find me a job or fix my resume?
No. We do not charge candidates for any of our services. While headhunters do not offer resume writing or redesign services, we are always happy to give you a few valuable pointers to help you optimize it yourself before it is presented to a client.
