Maintenance Electrician

Our client, a leading company in the Aluminium extrusion sector, seeks a licensed electrician to join their team. JOB DESCRIPTION The successful candidate will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and have overall responsibility for maintaining all manufacturing equipment and electrical systems at the plant. As an integral part of the Maintenance team, the candidate will actively share expertise and participate in the training of team members. Profil Technical Skills and Competencies: Proficient in troubleshooting and working with Allen Bradley PLCs. Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings. Comfortable with the Electrical Safety Code. Working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical controls, and PLCs. Experience in welding and fabrication is a significant advantage. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Maintenance Electrician’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Responsible for the maintenance of all electrical, instrumentation controls, and plant equipment to minimize downtime. Work independently with minimal supervision, ensuring a safe, clean, and organized workspace. Immediate response to breakdowns and effective communication for necessary repairs. Share knowledge openly and provide training to team members on equipment operation, history, procedures, and drawing updates. Coach operators on equipment capabilities, limitations, and preventive measures to enhance reliability. Troubleshoot and optimize various drives and instrumentation devices such as encoders, transducers, and thermocouples within a PLC control circuit. Size, run conduit, and connect wires to electrical equipment and plant components, including electrical disconnects, transformers, breakers, and various controls. Follow and take initiative in the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program, including suggesting improvements. Contribute ideas and support continuous improvement initiatives within the facility. Capable of independently repairing mechanical issues as required. Monitor equipment performance, document and assess potential problems to identify root causes and implement improvements. Communicate effectively with all plant personnel. Adhere to all ISO and quality-related policies, procedures, and system requirements. HEALTH & SAFETY As per the Ontario Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Section 28, Subsections (1) & (2): Comply with the provisions of the Act and related regulations. Follow all safety procedures, including Lock Out Tag Out. Use or wear required protective equipment and clothing. Report any equipment defects or safety hazards to the employer or supervisor. Report any breaches of the Act or existence of hazards. Do not remove or disable protective devices. Do not use equipment or perform tasks in a manner that could endanger oneself or others. Avoid engaging in unsafe behavior, including pranks, contests, or rough conduct. Observe company health and safety policies and procedures. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area at all times. WORK SCHEDULE 12-hour Continental shifts, night – 2-2-3-3 rotation. Night premium is $0.40/hr. Informations contractuelles MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Must hold a valid 442A or 309 electrician’s license. Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a licensed electrician in a manufacturing environment. High energy level, creativity, self-confidence, and excellent time management skills are essential. Experience or training in industrial maintenance and troubleshooting is required.
